Kuala Lumpur:  Ebizu, a Malaysian technology startup, was named the 2015 Asia Pacific BLE in Connected Retail Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan.

The Award recognizes Ebizu’s solid vision and execution in empowering retailers with online to offline capabilities using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons, enabling them to reach and engage shoppers on the go with promotions, vouchers and loyalty campaigns.

With the increasing adoption of smartphones and mobile internet among consumers, the physical retail industry is playing catch up in the Asia Pacific marketplace dynamic marketplace. Most affected by this transformation are small and medium retailers with limited awareness and budgets to get online and leverage the opportunities available today.

Ebizu was founded in 2013 to meet this need. The company has a suite of products that provides end-to-end retail solution for physical retail outlets in Malaysia and the Southeast Asia region. Ebizu is at the center of powering a data driven O2O retail ecosystem that brings online capabilities such as recommendations, personalization and retargeting to the offline retail world.

Speaking about the coveted recognition by analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, CEO and Founder of Ebizu, Rohit Maheswaran said, “We are pleased to be recognized as the Frost & Sullivan 2015 Asia Pacific BLE Company of the Year. Receiving this recognition is not only an endorsement of our vision but also great encouragement for a company as young and vibrant as ours! At Ebizu, we envision a revolution in the offline retail space, one that leverages technology and data to bring the benefits of online shopping to the offline world. This award serves as an inspiration for us to work harder to realize our vision for physical retailers in the region and proves that this industry is the next big thing in the making.”

Commenting on Ebizu’s win, Vivek K Raghu, Senior Research Analyst for Asia Pacific Automation and Electronics Practice at Frost & Sullivan said, “Increasing penetration of smartphones and mobile internet is heavily influencing the lifestyle and shopping experience of retail shoppers in the Asia Pacific region. While online retailers are well positioned to capture on this trend, a gap exists between the brick & mortar retailers and mobile technology. Ebizu’s BLE-incorporated integrated retail solutions empower the offline retailers with the knowledge of the customers’ journey, which helps them to engage with the customer at the right time and optimize sale conversions.”

Spearheading the use of beacon in the retail industry in Malaysia and the South East Asia region, Ebizu has already gained the reputation for empowering businesses with evolved and convenient consumer connection platforms, driving proximity marketing and loyalty with ease. To date, Ebizu has over 8,000 beacons installed in the region with thousands more being installed over the next year. With the infrastructure in place, Ebizu is also building a mobile ad network using a range of lifestyle, games and chat apps that will soon allow app developers to monetize their apps in physical locations.

“2015 has been a great year for us and it’s only right that we close the year on a very high note. The recognition has inspired and energized not just me but the entire Ebizu team,” Rohit concluded.
