Remembering Lee Kuan Yew: Coming Together, Achieving Together

Singapore, 20 March 2016 – This morning, nine community organisations, namely Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), Business China, Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC), Eurasian Association Singapore, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI), Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC), Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA), Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) and Yayasan MENDAKI, jointly organised a remembrance event to commemorate the legacy of Singapore’s Founding Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew in building a cohesive, multi-racial society. With his extraordinary vision, Mr Lee had been instrumental in strengthening Singapore's multicultural social fabric through his personal involvement with these organisations.

More than 1500 invited guests were present at the event held at Stamford Green, including leaders from Singapore’s public and private sectors, the business community, council and board members  as well as children and youths from the various community organisations. A youth representative from each ethnic community shared personal reflections of Mr Lee’s legacy and what the Lee Kuan Yew spirit meant for Singapore’s future. Through the youths’ sharing, our ethnic communities affirmed their commitment to further Mr Lee’s vision of racial harmony and social cohesion.
