Amjad Ali Khan Live on May 1st 2015 at Esplanade Concert Hall


Ustad Amjad Ali Khan one of India’s greatest and most revered musicians, is the unrivaled master of the musical instrument, sarod. With voice-like sonority and nearly superhuman speed and clarity, Khan’s artistry has gathered him legions of fans across the globe. He has recorded dozens of genre-defining albums, created original works, collaborated with a staggering array of artists and has accumulated an impressive collection of awards. 

He has made countless international festival appearances at the most prestigious of venues from Carnegie Hall to Sydney Opera House to Royal Albert Hall. In 1984, Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis honoured him by declaring April 20, 1984 as the ‘Amjad Ali Khan Day’ in Boston. 

He will be performing with his two sons Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan both virtuosos in their own rights. The trio is accompanied on the Tabla by the talented Satyajit Talwalkar.
