SINGAPORE:Jagannatha Ratha Yathra, or the Chariot Festival, was held on July 1st, 2012 at the Toa Payoh Stadium, Singapore. It was organised by the Singapore Hare Krishna Temple, to commemorate the reunion of Lord Krishna, with the residents of the Town Vrindavan, 5,000 years ago. The Jagannatha Ratha Yathra is the combination of two sanskrit words, meaning, the Chariot Procession of the Lord of the Universe, which essentially refers to Lord Krishna. Now it is celebrated worldwide in a grand fashion with three richly decorated chariots to represent Lord Krishna parading with his brother Sri Baladeva and sister Subhadra Devi on their magnificent chariots as the devotees pull them by ropes. This is an annual event held in Singapore, and you may visit the Sri Krishna Mandir’s website to get more details about the festival or to know when tit will be held next year.
