Kuala Lumpur: Astro has confirmed that, Global Malayalee event of Nov 2015, will be telecasted on Vanavil (channel 201) on Onam day, 14th Sept 2016, at prime time from 9pm to midnight.
This is first time, a 3-hour All Malaysian Malayalee Association (AMMA) event been broadcast for national viewing!
About Global Malayalee Event:
The All Malaysia Malayalee Association (AMMA) organized “The Global Malayalee”, a 3-Day 4-Event celebration, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from Nov 27 – Nov 29. Malayalees of the World gathered to interact, share & appreciate their achievements & the richness of our Culture, Language, & Traditions.
Day 1 on the 27th of November, was a Symposium, featuring 24 prominent Malayalees from the world over. This included such eminent speakers as MP for Thiruvananthapuram – Dr. Shashi Tharoor, former chairman of ISRO – Mr. G. Madhavan Nair, Mrs. Uma Preman, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Tan Sri Raveendran Menon, RESH formerly known as Resh Monu, etc. This was followed by a Networking Cocktail where one could mingle & rub shoulders with the prominent speakers & artists.
Day 2, on the 28th November, was the Grand Gala Dinner & Awards Night, a celebration & recognition of achievements of 22 Global & Malaysian Malayalees with delicious food, dazzling entertainment, & celebrities from the Malayalam Film Industry such as Shobana, Madhu Balakrishnan and Sithara. The chief guest of the event, the Malaysian Tourism Minister, YB Dato’ Seri Nazri, was so wowed by the event, that he declared this event would be supported & co-hosted by the Malaysian Government in future.
Day 3, the final day on the 29th of November, was a Kerala Festival Open House with the traditional Sadya, cultural entertainment, & a Bazaar featuring typical Kerala food & arts.
The event was hailed as a first-ever of its kind for the Malayalee community, world-over!
